Donald Trump took another step in enacting his white supremacist agenda by announcing the rescission of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, effectively turning 800,000 American lives into fodder for his for-profit deportation machine. There are 5,060 DACA recipients in Ohio alone, and each year they contribute $14,103,000 in State and local taxes. Donald Trump has betrayed our values and unraveled our promise to these young immigrants who grew up calling the United States home. Now it’s up to your representatives in Congress to stand up to Trump’s hateful decision and secure the futures of DACA recipients with a legislative fix: The DREAM Act (S.1615 / H.R.3440).
Call your Representative and two Senators today and demand them that they need to support a clean “DREAM Act” (S.1615 / H.R.3440). Congress has this Trump-made tragedy of ending relief from deportation for 800,000 young Americans who now face an uncertain future. Tell your MoC to include a clean DREAM Act in any must-pass package they are planning. The DREAM Act would give DACA recipients and others who arrived in the United States as children a path to permanent lawful status and eventual citizenship.
